The Years We Fed Each Other: Mostly Recipes, Entirely Memories

This cookbook is a compilation of recipes and stories gathered over the years by my family. It started in the early 2000's, around the dining room table at our home in York, Pennsylvania when my son, Nathan, was very young. We watched the shows Top Chef and Chopped religiously, which definitely inspired the creativity in our kitchen! The boys (my now ex-husband, Kevin and my son, Nathan) were my guinea pigs. I'd lay a plate down in front of them and asked them to rate the dish, using a scale of 1-5 stars. Many did not make the cut. The ones that did, received 3 stars or more, to make their debut in this cookbook. What was even more fun than getting creative in the kitchen and having them judge, were the inevitably entertaining conversations that ensued around our small family table of three. Most times, if a dish was cookbook worthy, I'd ask Nathan to give it a name. Most of them make no sense, but were inspired by one or more of our three cats (Zoey, Molly and Whippy). Nathan was 7 years old when this project started. What can I say?Various recipes inside this book have come from other wonderful cooks in our family. One very special dish traveled back with my late father, from Korea, after his time spent serving our country (Bulgoki)! This dish became the star of our family's cookouts and parties over the years, and now you see it regularly on menus everywhere.I hope you enjoy trying some of these recipes and maybe even get a giggle out of the stories that accompany them.
