The color is called Autumn Yellow — and it is exactly that. Warm, golden, earthy, and deeply satisfying in the hand. These two Frankoma style C3 mugs were produced between 1975 and 1990, the entire run of this beloved color, and they have the weight, the warmth, and the character that has made Frankoma one of the most passionately collected American potteries.

A note on the name: these mugs are sometimes listed online as "Lazy Bones" or "Barrel Plainsmen" — but we went back to the actual Frankoma catalogs, and they are neither. They are simply style C3, produced in dozens of colors over the years. Autumn Yellow was introduced in 1975 and proved so popular it stayed in production until 1990. Frankoma collectors tend to pursue these in every color made — if you're building a collection, these two bring you two steps closer. If you're new to Frankoma, this is an excellent place to start.

Some crazing on the bottom of each mug — entirely consistent with the age and the clay body, and in no way affecting use or display. No chips, cracks, or scratches.

Use them for morning coffee, display them on an open shelf, or add them to a growing Frankoma collection. At 12 oz and 4 inches tall they are a satisfying, substantial mug.

Frankoma Pottery was founded by John Frank in Norman, Oklahoma in 1933, moving to Sapulpa, Oklahoma in 1938 where it produced pottery for over seventy years using the distinctive red Sapulpa clay that gives Frankoma pieces their characteristic warmth and weight. Known for dinnerware, sculptures, figurines, and the iconic glazed mugs that have become beloved collector's items, Frankoma survived the Great Depression, a devastating 1983 fire, and multiple ownership changes before finally closing in 2010. The original molds and trademark were subsequently sold, and production continues today in lower volume — making authentic vintage Sapulpa-clay Frankoma pieces increasingly valuable to collectors.
