Senneh is the old name of the modern city of Sanandaj. The rugs originating from the city and from nomads or farmers in the surrounding region are known as Senneh rugs. These double-sided kilims feature the traditional slit weave technique. They are often decorated with small patterns such as bouquets of roses, rows of trees or flowers, and the classic Mahi (fish) motifs. Larger central fields can also appear, often framed with a rhombus in varying colors.
